We support the union movement around the world. But we also believe that the union movement cannot gain strength continue to benefit people's lives unless the union is sustainable. By sustainable, we refer to 3 key areas to attain sustainability.

1. Sustainable ideals.
The focus of the union movement is to improve the lives of its working class members. As the society changes, so does the perceptions and ideas that define the working class. Therefore the ideals of the union movement must keep in step with what is current and relevant to the working classes and not remain trapped in a tradition that began nearly 200 years ago.

2. Sustainable membership.
Not only must the ideas stay relevant, they must also go out to reach new members! The union movement relies on collective bargaining as a key strategy in negotiating for better package and deals for our workers.Therefore it is very important that the message of the union movement is spread to the new generation and new members are recruited to bolster the ranks of the movement.

3. Sustainable income.
While the union is a movement by the working class, it does not change the fact that all union activities, from advertising to bargaining with employers and litigation, all require money. Therefore the union movement itself must have a sustainable business model that continues to generate income.

But of course, a union movement shouldn't generate income through profiting off its workers, something that goes against core principles of the union movement. But the union's strength lies in it's wide reach and mass participation. Therefore a union can create many new and profitable combinations through mapping resources adequately throughout its member groups.

And that, is something Union Plus has done and will continue to do.
